Letting Go with YQ – simply more you

Colin Morris

The fact that you are reading this Blog tells me that you are probably looking for a better way to live your life. And if I had to hazard a guess, I would say that you are probably wound up real tight, right now.  Remember to breath!

So let it go.

Breathe out. Long and hard, through your mouth. Then a slow in-breath through your nose and a long hard out-breath through your mouth.

And there it is – you already feel a little better.

Letting go is simply one of the most important skills we can develop. Consciously and unconsciously our very own thought processes hold us back. We become entangled in all sorts of mind traps and inner dialogues and memories that do not necessarily serve our highest good.

I realised this while formulating the YQ – simply more you, practice principals.

I knew that I had lost myself. For many years I ran my life serving the people around me in a way that I believed they needed me to be. While superficially my life looked good, I didn’t feel it.

So, I spent some time looking over my personal collection of photos and certificates. I shut up all the brain chatter and simply focused on what was in front of me. In that objective state, I quickly realized how much I have achieved at a high level. And in that moment, I realized that I had failed myself in that I continually spoke down to myself.  My inner dialogue was well and truly stuck in an apologetic track for not being more; for not being good enough.

No wonder I felt inferior. Yet, the material in front of me was hard proof that I am not only well equipped, but also well experienced, in being a human of quality.

I then consciously let go of my habitual thoughts and ideas that downplayed my ability and potential. Almost immediately I had to self-correct because my inner dialogue automatically went to a default chatter that involved words like “idiot” and “stupid”.  Talk about self-sabotage!

Habits are hard to break.  Remember that it took years to get stuck so be kind to yourself while you work daily to “let it go”. Ed reminded me that it takes, on average, 66 consecutive days to adopt a new habit and none of us are Superman!

It all starts with accepting all that is past as being just that, over / finished / beyond redemption. And, most importantly, beyond your control. Clear your mental work bench so that you can switch to that better life you crave and deserve.

Just let it go.

Take care and be blessed,

Col

The tail in the Q
is all about You

The “tail” in the Q of YQ connects with the stake of the Y and symbolises a French drain.  Because how you feel is a reflection of many things that you can use YQ to break down, identify what needs to change for yourself and prepare to find yourself and start living your authentic Life.
