It’s all about women in August and how ironic that the blockbuster “Barbie” movie is all the buzz this month!
For many, Barbie does not epitomise womanhood. Yet the movie (surprisingly) delivers a series of hard-hitting punches, highlighting several disconnects indicative of the unbalanced world in which we live. Each one of these disconnects could be a subject.
Together with Ed, I want to talk about the importance of connecting the energy of one’s unique self, unique talents, and unique gifts. Our emotions drive so much of who we become, as do the circumstances and events that we experience during our life journey. It is only when we accept that we live in a sea of contradictions and simply accept who we are while striving to be as authentic as possible, we get to be so much happier, settled, and stronger.
So, what are those contradictions? Take the multimillion-dollar anti-aging industry as just one example. We try so hard to look as young as possible, yet the stories that make life so interesting, educational, and entertaining are told in the lines of old people. Laughter lines and frown lines make up a type of “fingerprint” detailing a person’s individual life journey, why then do we work and worry to hide them?!
Helen Mirren at 76 prefers the term “growing up” to “growing old” and says that “age is an asset”.
Perhaps she is / should be “the new Barbie”?
Helen also says that “the reality is that you either die young or you get older.”
“Which would you prefer?” asks Ed.
On that note, enjoy the rest of this month and let’s get ready for Autumn and Spring! Feel free to contact me for a no-obligations chat at any time.
