We are moving into that phase of the year where the brightness of “Happy New Year!” begins to fade. The parties are over, the freedom and ease of the holidays are no longer tangible. Routines have crept back in, and our Resolutions are already being forgotten. The question quietly arises: for how long is it appropriate to wish someone a Happy New Year?
Perhaps the better question is this: why limit our goodwill towards others and ourselves to a calendar date at all?
It’s the one thing that we all wish for. The standard response to “what do you want out of life” is almost always the same, “all I want is to be happy”.
Is it realistic to expect such a thing? The answer is yes! But true attainable happiness is not about everything going perfectly and having a permanent grin etched on your face. That is far-fetched and impossible in a world of ups and downs and the natural flow of life.
So how is true, lasting happiness possible? By being okay when the $&%# hits the fan. Conflict, loss, disappointment, and trauma are unavoidable. It’s how we respond that becomes the game changer.
Real strength does not come from armour. It comes from alignment.
Because the way we respond is shaped by what we’re rooted in.
From a @YQmoreyou perspective, progress doesn’t come from force, but from living in integrity with what matters most to us. From that place of Love, not sentimentality, but grounded, courageous Love, we find clarity. Love for our values. Love for our people. Love for the future we are consciously choosing to build.
When we act from this place, resilience becomes sustainable. Toughness is no longer about bracing against life, but about standing firmly in who we are. Growth becomes expansive rather than extractive. Success stops being about getting ahead of others and starts being about moving forward with purpose.
So maybe the invitation of a new year is not something that expires in January. Maybe it is an ongoing call to live awake. To question inherited assumptions. To soften where we have become rigid, and to strengthen where we have been disconnected from ourselves.
Right now, pause and choose deliberately! Build your year, your work, your relationships, and your future from a place of Love and grounded truth. Let your values be your edge. Let meaning be your momentum.
Do not wait for another “new year” to begin again. Begin now. Wish yourself well, deeply and honestly, and then live in a way that makes that wish real.
